  • Xiaomi Redmi 2 smartphone is a budget phone that is power packed with utility features necessary in everyday life. The phone does not claim to run on a fast processor or do not have much of RAM, yet it is a phone that has all the necessary features necessary for day to day life. The phone more or less runs pretty smoothly except the fact when too much of apps run in the background. Apps like Facebook Messenger really make the phone sluggish so try to avoid using too much of apps all at a same time. The phone is expected to create a rave in the Indian markets and is expecting huge response from the customers in the Asian markets. The phone is really a good buy at a rate that is within your budget.

Features like Xiaomi’s easy to use MIUI, 8MP rear camera that takes pictures in decent lighting and the dual SIM having 4G capabilities are some of the main highlights of this smartphone. The phone is not available at the local stores in UK, US and Australia as Xiaomi does not sell the phone in these countries. If you wish to buy it then you have to spend some more bucks and get it from the online resellers. Though there are some issues related to the performance of this phone, still it is one of the best names that people love to buy. High end features combined with an affordable budget is something that people always seek for. The sleek look of the phone along with the features is simply great when you compare it with the price. Thus people love this phone that has high end features and is available at an affordable rate. The company is expanding at a huge rate and is expected to sell the phone in countries like South America.

    Design:

The phone, Xiaomi Redmi 2 is an upgrade of the Redmi 1S that has been introduced last year. Though as such nothing has been changed in terms of looks still the phone looks sturdy enough and the rear cover is of flimsy plastic while the back of the phone has a matter finish plastic back. The volume rocker and the power/ standby buttons are on the right side while the left side has no button as such. The top of the phone has 3.5mm audio jack while the bottom has microUSB charging port and the data transfer port. Weighing 133 grams, the phone is quite easy to hold in the grip of your hands and the 4.7 inch display provides pictures with greater clarity. The pixel density of 1280x720 provides clear pictures with perfect amount of brightness. The audio speaker section is at the top coupled with the proximity sensor and the 2MP camera while the rear part of the phone is integrated with 8MP camera. The overall design of the phone is quite good and impressive enough to attract your eyes.

    Hardware and Software features:

Powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 that has 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A53 processor along with the Adreno 306GPU, the phone works really fast and smooth enough to perform day to day operations. Thus you can surf the net or run apps seamlessly without any worries. Storage is never a problem when you have 1GB of RAM combined with 8GB of internal storage. The memory can be expanded as per your needs and so storing videos, photos or music seems quite easy. The microSD card can support storage up to 32GB and makes it easier for you to store your favorite stuff. The phone is integrated with Android 4.4 version and has a MIUI skin on its top. In terms of appearance of the phone, you can hold one app using one finger and with another flick apps from one place to another. Again you can shift apps by tapping them on the screen very easily. The apps are quite simpler in appearance and are neatly divided into sections that make it easier for you to select the particular app as per your choices. The music and the video apps are clearly divided into the local and the cloud sections while the clock app looks great because of its new design. The weather app looks more beautiful and the security app is neatly divided for the convenience of the users. Be it the floating notifications or the toggle button to switch settings, Xiaomi Redmi 2 brings you a lot of uniqueness in this new phone.

    Performance:

When it comes to performance the phone works pretty smoothly without any hassle. The MIUI skin atop the Android 4.4 version does not hamper the performance of the phone. Swiping the apps, switching between them or scrolling seems pretty easier. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC processor is something that makes the phone work without any sluggishness. The call quality of the phone is quite good and the earpiece is loud enough that lets you hear voices even when you are stuck in heavy traffic. Playing games on the phone is quite a lot of fun and the rear side of the phone does not heat up so quickly even when you play too many games. So if you are looking for a phone that does not perform sluggishly, this is the one for you. Thus in terms of performance, Xiaomi Redmi 2 is really great to make it a part of your daily life.

    Battery:

The battery life of the phone is something really great to boast about. The phone is integrated with the 2200mAh battery that will provide enough charge to last for a day. Even if you make moderate use of the phone the battery won’t drain out easily and you do not have to go for frequent charging. Calling, surfing net, audio and video playback for a day can be easily done without worrying about the charge at all. When certain tests were conducted on this battery it was seen that the battery had 33 percent charge in the Performance mode, even if someone surfed net, made calls or listened to music. In the balanced mode, the battery life of the phone can be extended up to a few hours which make the phone a good buy.

    Camera:

Both the rear and the front camera of the phone are quite good and will surely live up to your expectations. The rear camera is of 8MP while the front camera is of 2MP. The phone offers a decent performance when it comes to the camera of the phone. The camera is really up to the mark and has a speedy shutter to boost its performance. Though the start up time of the camera is a bit slow and it takes a bit of time to start, still it is one of the budget phones that delivers good performance in terms of clicking photos and selfies. The features are not at all complicated and the 1080p HD video is one of the main attractions of Xiaomi Redmi 2.

    Price:

Xiaomi Redmi 2 is priced at Rs6,999 which is quite a reasonable price when compared to its utilities and performance. The new phone interface, the dual 4G slots and the higher capacity battery are some of the plus points of this smartphone that makes the phone a good one for your use.  So if you are looking for a budget phone that has all the necessary features and can perform quite well, this is the one for you. The price of the phone is quite reasonable and one of the popular ones that is highly in demand.
